Business Tax Receipt

Overview

To conduct business in the City of Apopka, all businesses must have a Business Tax Receipt (BTR). 

This Business Tax Receipt is a tax for the privilege of engaging in business, occupation, or profession within our City. Some businesses also require a State license, and we are required to obtain a copy of this license prior to issuing the City's Business Tax Receipt. 

Some businesses cannot be approved in certain locations. The permitted use table in the Land Development Code shall be adhered to. Please check with the City of Apopka Planning & Zoning Department at 407-703-1739 to confirm your business is allowed in the zoning district in which you are applying.

To request a PDF application, please email Community Development and indicate which application is needed. 

  • Business Tax Receipt Application for a Commercial Business 
  • Business Tax Receipt Application for a Home/Mobile Business

Please Note: Filing this application and remitting the application and Business Tax Fee(s) for a City Business Tax Receipt, does not allow the applicant to operate or engage in any type of business, occupation, or profession until a Business Tax Receipt is issued to the applicant.

How to Apply

Application Process

After submitting the application, the Planning and Zoning Division will review the application. Should any additional information or documentation be required, the applicant will be contacted. 

There is a $10 non-refundable application fee in addition to the Business Tax Fee(s).

Orange County Business Tax Receipts

Once the process is completed and the City has issued the Business Tax Receipt, you will need to obtain a Business Tax Receipt from Orange County.
